MISO Sister Orchestras is a signature initiative of The Miami Symphony Orchestra, designed to create meaningful, long-term partnerships with orchestras at the local, national, and international levels. Founding Sister Orchestra – The Ioannina Symphony Orchestra
The Miami Symphony Orchestra is proud to recognize the Ioannina Symphony Orchestra (Greece) as the Founding Sister Orchestra of the MISO Sister Orchestras Project.
This historic partnership establishes the first chapter of a growing network dedicated to artistic excellence, educational collaboration, cultural exchange, and international friendship. Together, MISO and the Ioannina Symphony Orchestra will serve as ambassadors of this vision through joint performances, artist exchanges, educational initiatives, and innovative cultural projects.
As the Founding Sister Orchestra, the Ioannina Symphony Orchestra represents the spirit upon which this initiative was created and sets the standard for future partnerships across the United States and around the world.

The Network
The initiative welcomes partnerships at three levels:
- Local Sister Orchestra – Community, youth, university, chamber and regional orchestras.
- National Sister Orchestra – Partnerships throughout the United States featuring exchanges, residencies, concerts and educational initiatives.
- International Sister Orchestra – Long-term global partnerships promoting cultural diplomacy, touring, festivals, exchanges and collaborative productions.
