Eduardo Marturet is an internationally acclaimed conductor and composer whose career spans Europe, the Americas, and Asia. He serves as Music Director and CEO of The Miami Symphony Orchestra (MISO), the Official Symphony Orchestra of the City of Miami. Since assuming the position in 2006, he has transformed MISO into one of South Florida’s leading cultural institutions, recognized for innovative programming and artistic collaborations that bridge classical music, jazz, Latin music, film, and contemporary culture.
Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Marturet studied in Cambridge, England, where he trained in piano, percussion, composition, and conducting. He began his professional career in Venezuela, serving as Associate Conductor of the Orquesta Filarmónica de Caracas before becoming Artistic Director of the Orquesta Sinfónica Venezuela.
Throughout his distinguished international career, Marturet has conducted many of the world’s leading orchestras, including the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Romanian Radio National Orchestra, RAI National Symphony Orchestra, ERT National Symphony Orchestra, European Community Chamber Orchestra, Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, CJRT Orchestra Toronto, the New York Philharmonic, and the Ioannina Symphony Orchestra (Greece), with which he conducted two major summer concerts in Parga and Ioannina in 2026. In 2001, he led the Berliner Symphoniker on a 12-city South American tour sponsored by Deutsche Bank, which was documented and broadcast throughout the region.
Marturet has demonstrated remarkable versatility across musical genres through collaborations with legendary artists including Mstislav Rostropovich, Barbara Hendricks, Arturo Sandoval, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Maurice André, Aldo Ciccolini, Paul Badura-Skoda, Byron Janis, Salvatore Accardo, Ivo Pogorelich, Gloria Estefan, Carlos Santana, Dionne Warwick, Astor Piazzolla, Burt Bacharach, and many other internationally celebrated performers from both the classical and popular music worlds.
In April 2012, the United States flag was flown over the U.S. Capitol in Marturet’s honor after he received the Medal of Merit of the United States Congress, recognizing his outstanding and invaluable service to the community.
Marturet has recorded more than sixty albums throughout his career, earning a Latin Grammy Award nomination for Best Classical Album. His extensive discography includes recordings with the Berliner Symphoniker, Budapest Radio Symphony Orchestra, Brabant Orchestra, Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, Bohemian Chamber Philharmonic, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, Czech Chamber Philharmonic, and The Miami Symphony Orchestra. In 2026, his catalog expanded with Unity & Glory, the official anthem of Concacaf, representing the Confederation’s 41 Member Associations across North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
In 2014, Marturet was named a Steinway Artist, joining one of the world’s most prestigious rosters of internationally distinguished musicians.
On July 3, 2026, Marturet made his highly anticipated debut conducting the New York Philharmonic at David Geffen Hall in a special Independence Day program celebrating the American musical tradition. The concert featured works by John Williams, Margaret Bonds, Karen LeFrak, Florence Price, Samuel Barber, and Tchaikovsky, with violinist Amaryn Olmeda and CNN anchor Omar Jimenez as guest artists.
Beyond the concert stage, Marturet is a passionate advocate for music education and the transformative power of the arts. Deeply committed to his native Venezuela, he serves as Honorary Artistic Director of the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra and as a member of the El Sistema Academic Council, where he continues to mentor young musicians and support the mission of providing musical opportunities to underserved children and communities.
Under his artistic leadership, The Miami Symphony Orchestra has expanded its international profile through groundbreaking programming, world premieres, educational initiatives, and collaborations with internationally renowned artists and institutions. His vision continues to position MISO among the most dynamic and innovative orchestras in the Americas. His contract as Music Director and CEO has been renewed through 2032.

In 2026, he added to his catalog Unity & Glory, the official anthem of Concacaf, commissioned as the Confederation’s ceremonial anthem representing its 41 Member Associations across North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
