MISO and Purpose Built Families/Operation Sacred Trust Develop a Program for Veterans

“Music to Heal, Music to Honor”

The Miami Symphony Orchestra (MISO) has been honored with two prestigious awards, namely the PNC Bank Grant and the South Arts Grant, in November of 2022. These grants have been bestowed upon the Official Symphony Orchestra of the city of Miami to aid the Music to Heal, Music to Honor program, developed in collaboration with Purpose Built Families Foundation/Operation Sacred Trust.
This project will begin tomorrow, at our Grand Season Finale.

The Miami Symphony Orchestra, Conducted by Maestro Eduardo Marturet, will give our veterans at Sacred Trust for a performance like no other. Celebrated pianist Maria João Pires joins Eduardo Marturet and the Miami Symphony Orchestra to perform one of the most iconic works in piano literature, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major, K. 488.” The final sounds of the concert come from the emotional and autobiographical “Symphony No. 6, ‘Pathétique’ ” by Piotr I. Tchaikovsky.

488.” Alongside this masterpiece, the orchestra visits contemporary composer Eric Whitacre and his compelling piece “Equus.” The final sounds of the concert come from the emotional and autobiographical “Symphony No. 6, ‘Pathétique’ ” by Piotr I. Tchaikovsky.

Veterans will enjoy a very special pre-concert talk just for them, and then the concert. Maestro Marturet will present a special award to honor our veterans.

At the core of this initiative is MISO’s dedication to empowering veterans, providing them with an opportunity to engage with and immerse themselves in the orchestra’s top-notch musical performances that are an integral part of Miami’s community.

Special Thanks to Ms. Marijo Stewart for her support!
